Bloomberg Opens Its Sustainability-Focused London Headquarters

Foster + Partners’ new Bloomberg European headquarters in the City of London opened with the highest BREEAM sustainability score ever awarded to a major office building.

Bloomberg's European headquarters at 3 Queen Victoria Street, City of London, designed by Foster + Partners, was to be officially opened on 24 October 2017^[3][4]
It received a BREEAM Outstanding rating with a 98.5% score, the highest design-stage score for a major office development^[2][3][4]
It is designed to use 73 per cent less water and 35 per cent less energy than a standard office, with bronze facade fins that open and close for natural ventilation^[4]
The site has 102,200 square metres of offices and retail in two buildings divided by an arcade that reinstates part of the Roman Watling Street; it houses about 4,000 staff^[3][4]
The London Mithraeum, a Roman temple discovered in 1954, was returned to near its original site in the basement and is open to the public^[3][4]
It won the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2018, was built by Sir Robert McAlpine, and the new Bank station entrance opened in December 2018^[3]
