The Len Lye Centre, clad in curved stainless-steel columns, opened in New Plymouth as New Zealand's first museum dedicated to a single artist.

The Len Lye Centre opened on 25 July 2015 as an extension of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Plymouth, the first gallery in New Zealand dedicated to a single artist^[2][3]
It was designed by Andrew Patterson of Patterson Associates and is a mirror-finished building with exhibition spaces, an archive room, an education studio and a 62-seat cinema^[2][3]
It houses the work of kinetic sculptor and film-maker Len Lye (1901-80), whose foundation chose the gallery as home for his work months before his death^[2][3]
The gallery was founded in 1962 through Monica Brewster (nee Govett) and opened in 1970^[2][3]
The gallery won the 2016 Designers Institute of NZ Best Design Award for Large Brand Identity^[2]
