Governor of Texas[1]
Greg Abbott is the 48th governor of Texas, serving since January 20, 2015. A Republican, he previously served as Texas attorney general from 2002 to 2015 and as a justice of the Texas Supreme Court from 1996 to 2001.
What each year added up to: salary, plus outside income, royalties, endorsements, prizes and investment income where a source reports them. A financial disclosure gives ranges, shown as such.
Health, weight and religion appear only where the person, their physician or a reputable outlet has published them; each links to its source.
One octagon for each phase of the life of Greg Abbott. Each of the eight axes is scored 0 to 5 against a written rubric from documented evidence, with its source; an axis without evidence is a gap, not a zero. There is no total and no ideal shape: it is a profile, not a ranking. Appearance and personality are not axes, because they cannot be scored from evidence.
No total and no ideal shape: a longer spoke means more of that axis, so a long Misconduct spoke is more documented misconduct.
The Legislative Budget Board fiscal note projects a net General Revenue cost of about $1.0 billion over 2026-27 rising to $3.07 billion in FY2028 and $3.98 billion in FY2030, partly offset by Foundation School Fund savings of $258 million (FY2028) to $806 million (FY2030). TEA's participation estimate assumes 175,000 current private-school students apply in FY2027 versus 24,500 public-school students leaving, i.e. most of the subsidy goes to students not switching schools.
