Worldwide software spending (Gartner)

$1,464B (2026) → $1,679B (2027) → $783B (2022) → $913B (2023) → $1,092B (2024) → $1,250B (2025)

USD billions, nominal. Gartner's 'Software' segment. Projection is Gartner's October 2026 forecast for 2026 and 2027 (a forecast, not an outcome). History points are the earlier-year column from each January/February release (2022 Jan 2023, 2023 Jan 2024, 2024 Jan 2025, 2025 Feb 2026), published in millions of US dollars and shown here in billions by decimal scaling only; Gartner restates segment baselines between editions (e.g. scope and currency changes), so steps between editions are not purely market movement, and the 2026 projection starts from a different baseline than the 2025 history. Includes application and infrastructure software and GenAI models.
