Investment analyst and founder of Asymmetric Investing

Travis Hoium is an investment analyst, writer and founder of Asymmetric Investing. Before his financial-writing career he worked as a mechanical engineer at 3M and founded a virtual-reality company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. His writing for The Motley Fool has covered renewable energy, technology and growth businesses. In March 2023 he launched Asymmetric Investing as a research publication focused on businesses with substantial long-term upside. His approach examines business models, disruption and valuation. The Autopilot portfolio is one public implementation of that research, rather than a guarantee of the targets in his newsletter.
