Chembur station opened on the Line 2B branch of the Yellow Line, taking the operational section to six stations after the first 5.8 km from Diamond Garden to Mandale started carrying passengers in April 2026. The station sits roughly 200 metres from Chembur suburban railway station and about 100 metres from the monorail, making it a three-mode interchange; Line 2B as a whole is estimated to cost 10,986 crore rupees.

The 4.5 km four-lane elevated road ties the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link at Sewri to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Coastal Road at Worli, crossing the Central and Western Railway lines near Prabhadevi on a double-decker structure whose lower deck replaces the 112-year-old Elphinstone road over bridge, closed to traffic in September 2025.
