Oshkosh Truck Corporation bought fire apparatus builder Pierce Manufacturing outright, a deal that kicked off Oshkosh's diversification and set up Pierce to become the world's largest fire truck maker.

Pierce Manufacturing brought Phase I of its redesigned High Flow custom chassis production line online at its Appleton, Wisconsin campus, cutting chassis lead times by more than three months. The line is part of a $150 million-plus modernization of Pierce's Wisconsin, Florida, and Tennessee plants.
