Statoil Commissions Hywind Scotland, the World's First Floating Wind Farm
Statoil switched on Hywind Scotland, five 6-megawatt turbines on floating spar-buoy foundations moored 25 kilometres off Peterhead, as the first floating wind farm in the world. The 30-megawatt pilot park proved floating turbines could operate commercially in deep, harsh North Sea waters.
