IAEA’s 2024 Climate Change and Nuclear Power report identifies US$4 billion expected total cost for the Natrium demonstration project, separately from the US$2 billion DOE contribution. It describes one 345 MWe net reactor at Kemmerer. This is a dated published project estimate; it is not represented as a refreshed 2026 fixed-price budget.

Natrium — Kemmerer Unit 1: 345 MW generating project rating. 345 MWe net continuous reactor output; storage-assisted peak excluded
TerraPower April 23, 2026 confirms official plant construction following the construction permit. Non-nuclear site support construction started June 2024. Reactor output is 345 MWe; storage-assisted 500 MW peak output is not additional continuous generating capacity.
Retained only with documented physical construction, commissioning or 2025–2026 opening and published project-specific costs and electrical output. Costs use the published scope and currency; no benchmark estimates or currency conversions. MW is power capacity, not annual electricity production. Expected annual energy, where given, is a forecast. The map point is a reported plant/project location and may be approximate. Matching inventory views and excluded expansion proposals are not additive capacity.

TerraPower announced the start of construction on Kemmerer Unit 1 on April 23, 2026 after receiving the NRC construction permit. Natrium’s reactor rating is 345 MW; the storage-assisted peak output is a different metric and must not be represented as the continuous reactor capacity.
Operator project page identifies Kemmerer as under construction. EPC contracting changes and schedule implications need a later sourced revisit.
GEM August 2026 snapshot: under construction. 345 MW sum of published phase ratings (ratings may mix solar DC/AC). Technologies: Nuclear.
Compare phase coverage and AC/DC, nameplate and net ratings before combining source figures. This inventory view is not extra capacity to add to the existing project total.
EIA August 2026 snapshot: approvals pending. 500 MW nameplate across 1 new/recent generating units. Technologies: Nuclear.
Compare phase coverage and AC/DC, nameplate and net ratings before combining source figures. This inventory view is not extra capacity to add to the existing project total.
Additional source view; compare phase coverage and rating conventions before combining figures.
