Construction Begins on New York's Hudson River Rail Tunnel

Crews broke ground on the Hudson Tunnel Project, a new rail tunnel meant to relieve the century-old, storm-damaged North River Tunnel beneath the Hudson River.

Construction began on 3 November 2023 on the Hudson River Tunnel, part of the $16.1 billion Gateway Program to double Northeast Corridor capacity between New Jersey and New York^[3]
