UC San Diego Starts Building Its New Hillcrest Hospital

Major construction begins on the Hillcrest Medical Center Renewal Project, replacing the hospital built as the county hospital in 1963 with about 800,000 square feet holding roughly 300 licensed beds and a Level One trauma centre. The wider Hillcrest redevelopment is a ten-year, $2.5-3 billion programme finishing in 2033.
