Microsoft Copilot Cowork Becomes Generally Available Worldwide · Chronopin

Microsoft made Copilot Cowork generally available worldwide on 16 June 2026, after three months of preview in its Frontier program (30 March to 16 June)^[1][5]
More than half of the Fortune 500 used it during the preview, along with Accenture, Avanade, Capital Group, Koch, Ooredoo Qatar and Zurich Insurance; Microsoft calls it the fastest-growing feature in Frontier's history^[1][4]
It needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot user licence and is billed on usage in Copilot Credits; billing began on launch day, with tenants that used it in Frontier not billed until 1 July 2026^[1][5]
Cowork is off by default: admins decide when to enable it and for whom, and can set spending limits and alerts at tenant, group and user level^[1]
Microsoft has kept adding features since launch, including building and sharing apps inside Cowork and plugins on the mobile app^[2][6]

An agentic system for complex, long-running, multi-tool tasks: the user defines the work and Cowork runs it end to end and returns a finished result rather than a draft^[1][3]
