Meyer Werft delivered the Norwegian Breakaway, then the largest ship it had ever built, from its Papenburg shipyard to Norwegian Cruise Line after an 18-month build. Her maiden voyage was the transatlantic crossing to New York, where she was christened; seven-day Bermuda cruises out of New York followed from 12 May 2013.

Meyer Werft handed over the AIDAnova, built at its Papenburg shipyard as the world's first cruise ship able to run on liquefied natural gas, to AIDA Cruises. The 337-metre ship carries up to 6,600 passengers and was assembled from roughly 15 million individual parts.
