Estimate from the variant's published specs, 0-5; scores are only comparable within one criteria year. MD-11 passenger (CF6-80C2D1F, MTOW 602,500 lb). Range 6,725 nmi with 298 passengers (Boeing MD-11 passenger sheet via Wikipedia) = 4. Capacity 298 three-class (16F+56J+226Y) = 4. Speed Mach 0.83 cruise = 3.5. Runway read from graph: Figure 3.3.1 of the MD-11 airport-planning manual (GE engines, standard day, sea level) gives about 9,800 ft at 602,500 lb = 2. Comfort null: reviews cover landing and handling only. Efficiency null: no published fuel-burn figure for this variant was found (airport-planning manual has none; operator pages checked give only fleet-level savings). Three reviews (one anonymous Finnair pilot interview). web.archive.org
I think this is a grand plane to fly. Go steadily as a train, partially thanks to the tail engine. Landing requires bit special technique.
Its nose is higher, the flare can seem abrupt, and the groundspeed at the threshold is clearly faster.
Pilots often commented on the unusual landing characteristics of the MD-11, particularly during crosswind conditions

Gives the first flight at Long Beach on 10 January 1990 and the 200-aircraft run.[1]
