Brown Convention Center, holding two exhibition halls, an atrium hall and the largest ballroom in Texas, plus a 100,000-square-foot pedestrian plaza linking it to the Toyota Center. Houston First financed this first phase of its $2 billion convention district transformation with about $1.38 billion of hotel occupancy tax and special revenue bonds.

Phase 2 tears down the convention center's 1968 arena and replaces it with a four-storey building and a new ballroom, finishing a rebuild whose first phase added 76,000 square feet and wrapped up in winter 2025. The centre stays open to events through the work.
