Estimate from the version's published specs and reviews, 0-5; scores are only comparable within one criteria year. Scored as launched (20 May 2025): 720p at 24 fps and 8-second clips (1080p and 9:16 came in Sept 2025), native dialogue, effects and ambient sound, text or text plus one image (TechCrunch); Flow's multi-image ingredients still ran on Veo 2 at launch. Google published no render time; Tom's Guide saw 8-second clips in under two minutes, which is not a maker figure, so speed is null. Realism: Tom's Guide and Android Authority praise the realism with caveats (hit-or-miss prompt reading, artifacts), TechRadar's piece is launch commentary, and AI Alleyway's July 2026 review covers the whole Flow lineup.[1]
The realism is genuinely impressive — especially for the fact that the 8-second clips can be generated in under two minutes on a computer without a full production crew.
I’m convinced that Google’s Veo 3 is a mind-blowing advancement in AI video generation, for better or worse.
If the demo can be converted into real-world use, this represents a remarkable tipping point in the AI content generation space.
Veo follows instructions closely and keeps a scene coherent.

Google's Flow post is dated 20 May 2025 and says Ultra subscribers get 'early access to Veo 3 with native audio generation'; TechCrunch[5] and TechRadar[6], both stamped 20 May 2025, say Veo 3 was announced 'Tuesday' at Google I/O 2025 and 'is live today' in the US.
Veo 3 API pricing fell to $0.40 a second with audio from $0.75 in September 2025, when 1080p and 9:16 were added; the launch tier was 720p at 24 fps with 8-second clips.[1]
Clips stay at 8 seconds; the new audio, including dialogue synced to the picture, is far beyond Veo 2's silent output.[1]
Hands-on: 8-second clips in under two minutes, impressive realism, hit-or-miss prompt interpretation.[1]
Veo 3 can make sound effects, background noise and dialogue; it was available Tuesday in the Gemini app for the $249.99-a-month AI Ultra plan, prompted with text or an image; SynthID watermarks are embedded.[1]
