Governor of Alabama[1]
Kay Ivey, a member of the Republican Party, has served as the 54th governor of Alabama since April 10, 2017, when she succeeded Robert Bentley upon his resignation. She previously served as Alabama state treasurer from 2003 to 2011 and lieutenant governor from 2011 to 2017.
What each year added up to: salary, plus outside income, royalties, endorsements, prizes and investment income where a source reports them. A financial disclosure gives ranges, shown as such.
One octagon for each phase of the life of Kay Ivey. Each of the eight axes is scored 0 to 5 against a written rubric from documented evidence, with its source; an axis without evidence is a gap, not a zero. There is no total and no ideal shape: it is a profile, not a ranking. Appearance and personality are not axes, because they cannot be scored from evidence.
No total and no ideal shape: a longer spoke means more of that axis, so a long Misconduct spoke is more documented misconduct.
Health, weight and religion appear only where the person, their physician or a reputable outlet has published them; each links to its source.
No outcome evaluation of Alabama's education savings accounts exists yet; the closest randomized evidence on private-school vouchers is Abdulkadiroglu, Pathak and Walters (AEJ: Applied 2018), which found Louisiana Scholarship Program participation lowered math scores by 0.4 standard deviations and also reduced reading, science and social studies scores. Louisiana's program served disadvantaged students at selected private schools, so the result transfers imperfectly to a broader account program, and findings vary across choice programs.
