The first entry is always the pin's source. Overall confidence is a weighted average of how firmly each reference supports the start and end times used above; a reference counts half as much for every 180 days older than the newest.
Legislative action date (2026-01-16) tracked by AI Data Center Legislation Tracker.
Something missing or wrong? Say it in your own words: a link that backs this pin up, a different start or end date and why, or a fact it lacks or gets wrong. The AI checks it against this pin's sources, searches for better ones, and adds any page that backs you up. The pin's own sources still count most. A picture that shows something else, or shows it badly, is looked at too, and moved down or replaced.
Multiple Georgia data center moratorium bills introduced in 2026 session. HB 1012 (Rep. Ruwa Romman) would bar counties and cities from issuing permits for new data centers until March 1, 2027, with exceptions for approvals issued before July 1, 2026. HB 1059 (Rep. Derrick Jackson) would establish a moratorium from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028, and create a 14-member Data Center Impact Commission to conduct a three-year study with a final report due October 1, 2029. At least eight Georgia towns and counties have already passed local moratoriums. Industry opposition has been fierce, with a key bill stalling after a last-minute amendment found bipartisan support. HB 1012 stalled in the House Governmental Affairs Committee and did not cross over by the March 6 deadline, effectively killing it for the 2026 session. The moratorium provisions were not included in SB 410 which did pass.
