The first entry is always the pin's source. Overall confidence is a weighted average of how firmly each reference supports the start and end times used above; a reference counts half as much for every 180 days older than the newest.
TechRadar[3] (published 9 Dec 2024) says Sora 'finally launched on Monday' during OpenAI's third 12 Days announcement; MIT Technology Review's guide, Gigazine[2] and Wikipedia[6] all date the launch to 9 December 2024.
Describes Sora Turbo as the new version of the February research preview and lists the plan limits: Plus 720p and 5 seconds with 1,000 credits a month, Pro 1080p and 20 seconds with 10,000 credits; 25 credits for 5 s at 480p and 2,000 for 20 s at 1080p; not in the UK, EU or China.[1]
First hands-on on launch day: sora.com is its own destination, generation takes about a minute for two 5-second options, servers hit capacity, and one clip gave a golden retriever an extra tail where its head should be.[1]
Five-prompt test: 50 generations a month on Plus, unlimited on Pro (as the site stated), not available in the UK, Switzerland or EEA; typing without touching the keyboard and seagulls that fly like boomerangs show the physics problems.[1]
Says output is capped at 1080p and 20 seconds, C2PA metadata and visible watermarks are applied, and (in conflict with MIT Technology Review[1] and Gigazine[2]) that Plus is limited to 480p.

From Gigazine's launch-day report; OpenAI's own post is behind Cloudflare. Other outlets differ on Plus resolution (one reports 480p), so the Plus figure is Gigazine's alone. Credit costs are as stated at the time of writing. · source
Sora, OpenAI's new AI video generation platform, which finally launched on Monday, is a surprisingly rich platform that offers simple tools for almost instantly generating shockingly realistic-looking videos.
It demonstrates what I wrote about earlier regarding Sora not understanding physics in general.
it lacks temporal coherence, which is the ability to generate sequences that follow logical, time-based rules.
Out of the 21 videos I generated in total, only 7 of them didn’t contain any massively visible errors.
While creating the videos using the ChatGPT Plus account took me a lot of time, I see there is a lot of scope for improvement.

Something missing or wrong? Say it in your own words: a link that backs this pin up, a different start or end date and why, or a fact it lacks or gets wrong. The AI checks it against this pin's sources, searches for better ones, and adds any page that backs you up. The pin's own sources still count most. A picture that shows something else, or shows it badly, is looked at too, and moved down or replaced.
