Doraemon Premieres
- Doraemon's first TV anime premiered on 1 April 1973 on Nippon Television and ran 26 episodes to 30 September 1973, in a Sunday 19:00 slot, made by Nippon TV Douga.[1][2]
- Its 26 episodes were split into 52 segments and directed by Kazuyuki Okasako and Shigeo Koshi.[2]
- Doraemon was voiced by Kosei Tomita for episodes 1-13 and by Masako Nozawa from episode 14, while Yoshiko Ota voiced Nobita.[2]
- The run ended reportedly because creators Fujiko Fujio were unhappy with how the adaptation changed Nobita and Doraemon's personalities.[2]
- The series is now largely lost, with only fragments of opening and ending footage and audio from the last episode surviving; Shogakukan also asked in 1981 that a regional station stop airing it to protect the later series.[2]
- The 1979 Shin-Ei series that followed became the long-running version, and the franchise now counts over 300 million manga copies sold, while MAL lists the 1973 show at rank #2561 with about 22,000 members.[1][3]

Something missing or wrong? Say it in your own words: a link that backs this pin up, a different start or end date and why, or a fact it lacks or gets wrong. The AI checks it against this pin's sources, searches for better ones, and adds any page that backs you up. The pin's own sources still count most. A picture that shows something else, or shows it badly, is looked at too, and moved down or replaced.
