Prey Premieres on Hulu as the Predator Prequel
- Prey is a prequel to Predator (1987) set on the Northern Great Plains in 1719: Naru, a young Comanche woman striving to prove herself as a hunter, must protect her people from a humanoid alien that hunts humans for sport[1]
- Dan Trachtenberg directed from a screenplay by Patrick Aison, with Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro, Michelle Thrush, Stormee Kipp, Julian Black Antelope and Bennett Taylor[1]
- It was filmed around Calgary in summer 2021 mostly in English with some Comanche and French, and a full Comanche-language dub with the cast reprising their roles made it the first feature film to do so[1]
- It premiered at San Diego Comic-Con on 21 July 2022 and arrived on Hulu in the US on 5 August as a Hulu original; Wikipedia gives a US$65 million budget and a 99-minute runtime[1][3]
- Reviews were strong, with Rotten Tomatoes currently showing 94% positive, and its success led Trachtenberg to direct Predator: Killer of Killers and Predator: Badlands in 2025[1][2]

Something missing or wrong? Say it in your own words: a link that backs this pin up, a different start or end date and why, or a fact it lacks or gets wrong. The AI checks it against this pin's sources, searches for better ones, and adds any page that backs you up. The pin's own sources still count most. A picture that shows something else, or shows it badly, is looked at too, and moved down or replaced.
