Air Products have submitted plans for a large data center on a 194-acre site in Upper Macungie Township, reflecting a broader shift in the Lehigh Valley from mega-warehouse projects to data centers, but the proposal remains in limbo as Air Products conducts due diligence on whether the land is suitable for that use. The site was previously approved for three warehouses that never moved forward, and while the township has agreed to delay proceedings until February, some residents have expressed frustration and officials have made clear no further extensions will be granted. As of late May, the Upper Macungie Zoning Hearing Board rejected the appeal by Air Products, essentially haulting the proposal. As of August 11th, 2026, the developer has withdrawn the proposal.
