Leopold Cafe was founded in Colaba in 1871 by Irani immigrants, part of the wave of Zoroastrian cafes that shaped how Bombay eats out, and has outlasted almost all of them. The 4.5 km four-lane elevated road ties the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link at Sewri to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Coastal Road at Worli, crossing the Central and Western Railway lines near Prabhadevi on a double-decker structure whose lower deck replaces the 112-year-old Elphinstone road over bridge, closed to traffic in September 2025.

India's first offshore port built on reclaimed land off Vadhavan, with a 20 m draft deep enough for 233,000 DWT container ships, is being built by Vadhavan Port Project Limited, a company of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (74 per cent) and the Maharashtra Maritime Board. The 76,220 crore rupee port broke ground on 30 August 2024 and its first phase is to handle 6.85 million TEUs by 2030.
