ESA plansESA's Gaia mission page lists Data Release 4 for as due on 2 December 2026, 2026 at about 12:00 CET, served through the mission's first principal Gaia Archive and partner data release It covers centres. The Gaia Archive is scheduled to go offline at 12:00 CET on Wednesday 25 November 2026 and reopen at the data collected in same hour on 2 December with the first 5.5 years of observations Products include new data, when a new Milky Way map covering more than two billion stars and other objects is to be unveiled. Release material includes astrometric time series - some (a few sources pre-released so the communityresearchers could prepare -prepare), a draft data model of tables model, passbands, an exoplanet list and columns, auxiliary data such a solar-analogue spectrum. Processing documentation will be offered as passbands web pages and exoplanet lists,a PDF, and software accompanying certain products Stories summarising the many known issues will be posted on a dedicated page after publication. The data products are span the first 5.5 years of observations, nearly double the period covered by DR3. A Technische Universitat Dresden notice says the archive grows to be published on about 400 terabytes, roughly forty times the release day itselfprevious release, and for the first time offers individual measurements for the full period. Astrometric planet discovery is a headline expectation: Princeton researchers Caleb Lammers and Joshua Winn forecast roughly 7,500 planets, give or take 2,100, in this five-year dataset, mostly super-Jupiters on 2 to 5 AU orbits around stars within about 500 parsecs. They caution that unresolved binaries will produce false positives, which should be outnumbered by real planets about five to one.
