Constellation Energy is working to bring the former Three Mile Island Unit 1 reactor back online to supply carbon-free power under a 20-year deal with Microsoft.

Constellation Energy still expects to restart the Crane Clean Energy Center (formerly Three Mile Island Unit 1) in 2027, CEO Joseph Dominguez said in an April 2026 report, despite possible grid connection delays^[2]
Restart is backed by a 20-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft, announced in 2024; the unit was retired for economic reasons in 2019 and would add 835 MW^[2][3]
