Under Opens as Europe's First Underwater Restaurant
- Under opened on 20 March 2019 at Båly in Lindesnes, at "the southernmost point of the Norwegian coastline, where the North and South seas meet" - "the only underwater restaurant in Europe, and only the third to be found worldwide"[1][2]
- Snøhetta designed it as a 34-metre monolith driven into the seabed, its dining room 5.5 metres below the surface behind a panoramic window 11 metres wide and 3.4 metres high, inside a concrete shell with half-metre walls built to take the pressure and the storms[1][2]
- The architects' own line for it: "In this building, you may find yourself under water, over the seabed, between land and sea"[1]
- It is also a laboratory - "Under also doubles as a sea lab, facilitating research in marine biology", inviting researchers to study the life outside the window[1][2]

Wikipedia[2] gives 20 March 2019, and the date holds up against the contemporary press: Aftenposten ran "Nå åpner Under. Slik ser det ut i havdypet" on 19 March 2019, the eve of the opening. Secondary coverage that says only "early 2019" or "launched in 2019" does not narrow it further.

Visit Norway's page, used for the Michelin star ("In 2020, the restaurant also received a one-star Michelin rating, which it holds to this day") and for head chef Bernt Sætre's approach. It disagrees with the architects on capacity, saying "room for up to 90 guests" where Snøhetta and Wikipedia[2] both say 40 seats in the dining room.
