Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition coming to Xbox One and 360 this August
- Blizzard's Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is due out on Tuesday, August 19, on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation systems; the release was pegged for the 19th of August throughout and Xbox Wire's 19 August post says it "launches tomorrow" on Xbox One and Xbox 360[1][2][3]
- Pricing is $39.99 on Xbox 360 and $59.99 on Xbox One, with Amazon pre-order links given for both[1]
- Pre-orders (and, per Xbox Wire, launch day copies) come with the exclusive Infernal Pauldrons shoulder plates; Windows Phone Central lists their bonuses as Health, Life regeneration and Cool-down Reduction, while Xbox Wire gives Vitality, Life per Second and Cooldown Reduction, wearable at level 1 and usable for transmogrification[1][2]
Notable features
- It collects the main Diablo III game with the Reaper of Souls expansion that landed on PC in March; Reaper of Souls will not be sold separately on consoles, so Xbox 360 owners of Diablo III have no choice but to buy the Ultimate Evil Edition[1][2]
- Console-exclusive additions include Apprentice mode, which "allows low-level players to boost their stats while adventuring with high-level friends", and a new in-game mail system for sending items to friends, including "mysterious Player Gifts containing rare loot for the adventurer whose name they bear"[1]
- Reaper of Souls adds a fifth act in which Malthael, the Angel of Death, steals the Black Soulstone, the Crusader class, Adventure Mode with Bounties and Nephalim Rifts, the Mystic NPC for Enchanting and Transmogrifying, and raises the level cap to 70[1]
- Console versions also allow four-player local and online co-op in any mixture, and are streamlined from the PC game - no Battle.net account, offline play allowed, no real-money auction house, tweaked loot drops, and a new control scheme using the left stick for movement and the right stick for a directional dodge instead of point-and-click[1][2]
- Resolution changed before launch: on 7 August a spokesperson confirmed the Xbox One version ships at 900p but "following a day one patch, the Xbox One version of UEE will run at full HD 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second (up from 900p, 60 fps)", matching the PlayStation 4 version; by launch day Xbox Wire simply states the Xbox One version runs in 1080p HD[2][3]
- Xbox 360 players can transfer their progress to the Xbox One version (and PlayStation 3 players to PlayStation 4)[1][2][3]
