Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro API specs (OpenAI model pages)

Spec	Value
Maker	OpenAI
Released in the API	6 Oct 2025 (DevDay), via the v1/videos endpoint
Models	sora-2 and sora-2-pro
Input / output	Text and image in; video and audio out
sora-2 output sizes	720x1280 portrait, 1280x720 landscape
sora-2-pro output sizes	720x1280 / 1280x720, and 1024x1792 / 1792x1024
Snapshot at launch	sora-2-2025-10-06 and sora-2-pro-2025-10-06
API price, sora-2	$0.10 per second (720p)
API price, sora-2-pro	$0.30 per second (720p); $0.50 per second (1024x1792 or 1792x1024)

Read from OpenAI's final, shut-down model pages (also https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/models/sora-2-pro); the launch date and models are from the API changelog (https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/changelog). The 1080p tier and 16 and 20-second clips came later (12 Mar 2026) and are not listed here. Per-clip length limits at launch were not published on the pages opened. ·

Video model rubric2026 criteria

Estimate from the version's published specs and reviews, 0-5; scores are only comparable within one criteria year. Scored as launched on the API (6 Oct 2025): the best size at launch was sora-2-pro at 1792x1024 (about 1024p; 1080p was added on 12 Mar 2026 per the official changelog), so 3.5 between the 720p and 1080p anchors. Duration 12 s is the launch maximum as reported by Replicate's readme ('4 to 12 seconds') and AIBase ('12 or 16 seconds'); OpenAI's own launch-day page was not readable, so 3.5 is cautious. Native synced audio. Input is text plus one image reference, with a remix call, so 2.5. Speed and realism null: no published render time, and only one genuine hands-on review of the API-era model exists (DIY AI, July 2026, praise) against Artificial Analysis ranking Sora 2 Pro below rivals as relayed by Wikipedia and a MindStudio comparison that is not a test, so there is no two-review consensus.
