A New York Helicopters Bell 206L-4 tour flight from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport broke apart and fell into the Hudson River off Jersey City, killing the pilot and a family of five from Spain.

The air tour left the Downtown Manhattan/Wall Street Heliport about 14:58, flew a teardrop pattern south of the Statue of Liberty, turned near the George Washington Bridge and headed south along the New Jersey side^[4]
ADS-B data ended at 15:14:54 near the Holland Tunnel ventilation towers, with a last observed altitude of 125 ft after a rapid descent from about 675 ft^[4]
All six aboard, the pilot and five passengers, were killed^[1]
The helicopter had no flight recorders, and no onboard video or avionics data were recovered^[6]
NYPD divers and the US Army Corps of Engineers recovered the main rotor, transmission and tail rotor on 14 April^[5]
Documents released in July 2026 showed a mixed flock of Brant and Canada geese struck the rotor blades; the NTSB had not yet stated a probable cause^[2]
The victims were Agustín Escobar Cañadas, Mercè Camprubí Montal, their three children and pilot Sean Johnson; a year later their family and New York officials pressed Congress to pass the Helicopter Safety Parity Act^[3]
