Connect Bay Area Transit Tax Qualifies for the November 2026 Ballot
- The District Elections Official of the Public Transit Revenue Measure District certified that the Connect Bay Area Transit Initiative, authorized by Senate Bill 63 (Wiener/Arreguín, 2025), qualified for the ballot in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.[1]
- The petition, filed with the five registrars on 26 May 2026, held 306,288 unverified signatures; random sampling found an estimated 235,503 valid, above the 110% threshold of 205,831 (the base requirement was 187,119, 5% of the district's 3,742,378 registered voters).[4]
- The district had received the Connect Bay Area Transit Committee's notice of intent on 16 January 2026; on 24 July it accepted the certification and asked the five Boards of Supervisors to call a special election consolidated with the 3 November 2026 general election.[2]
