Sable Begins Oil Sales to Chevron From the Santa Ynez Unit
- On Sunday 29 March 2026 Sable Offshore began selling oil from the Santa Ynez Unit, the first sales since the unit was shut in after the 2015 Refugio spill[1]
- The Santa Ynez Pipeline System was filled from Las Flores Canyon to Pentland Station in Kern County at a rate of more than 50,000 barrels a day, two weeks after Sable restarted it under the Energy Department's Defense Production Act order[1][4]
- The buyer was Chevron; CEO Jim Flores called it 'American oil from American soil through an American pipeline to an American refinery'[1]
- Platform Harmony was producing about 22,000 gross barrels a day; after a final pre-restart inspection by the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Sable planned to start Platform Heritage on 30 March at over 30,000 barrels a day, and expected Platform Hondo by the end of June at over 10,000[1]
- Sable's 10-Q later put Heritage's first production in April 2026[2]
- By 20 April, 40 wells on Harmony and Heritage were producing about 750 gross barrels a day each, and Sable had produced over 1 million barrels from the unit[3]
- KEYT noted the federal order did not reserve the oil for the military or the Strategic Petroleum Reserve[4]

Something missing or wrong? Say it in your own words: a link that backs this pin up, a different start or end date and why, or a fact it lacks or gets wrong. The AI checks it against this pin's sources, searches for better ones, and adds any page that backs you up. The pin's own sources still count most.
