The 55km Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge opened to traffic on 24 October 2018, linking the three Pearl River Delta cities with cable-stayed bridges, artificial islands and an undersea tunnel.

Xi Jinping inaugurated it on 23 October 2018 and it opened to the public on 24 October 2018^[2][3]
Construction began on 15 December 2009 (Hong Kong section December 2011 after a legal challenge) and was originally due to open in late 2016; it was completed 6 February 2018 and 19 workers died during construction^[2][3]
The Main Bridge is 29.6 km including a 6.7 km immersed tunnel; the Hong Kong Link Road is 12 km and the Zhuhai Link Road 13.4 km^[2]
