Talen Energy asked Montour County to rezone 870 acres of farmland in Anthony Township from agricultural to industrial for a possible data center expected to serve Amazon, with about 400 more industrial acres in Derry Township bringing the project area to about 1,300. The county planning commission voted 6-1 against in November 2025 and the commissioners unanimously denied the request on 10 February 2026. Mudiita Infra advertised a phased, 750 MW, battery- and solar-powered data center campus on a 930-plus-acre site in Ransom Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, after affiliate Mudiita Land Venture LLC bought about 530 acres for $2.4 million in July 2026. On July 27, 2026 WVIA reported the project websites were shut down and a person tied to the buyer said there are no plans for a data center there, citing the township's denial of the nearby Scranton Materials overlay.
