Southwest Airlines became the first airline to take a Next-Generation 737-700 on December 17, 1997, at Boeing Field, four years after launching the program with an order for 63 aircraft.

On 23 September 1999 Boeing delivered its first 717-200 to launch customer AirTran Airways, three weeks after joint FAA and European certification. AirTran put its first two 717s into revenue service from 12 October.

Boeing delivered the first 787-10 to launch customer Singapore Airlines at North Charleston on 25 March 2018, with 3,000 people at the ceremony. Singapore Airlines had ordered 49 of the type and became the first group to operate all three Dreamliner variants.

On 4 April 2018 Embraer handed Widerøe the first production E190-E2, a 114-seat single-class aircraft, at São José dos Campos; the Norwegian carrier began flying it later that month.

COMAC handed the world's first production C919 (B-919A, 164 seats) to launch customer China Eastern at Shanghai Pudong on 9 December 2022; it flew a 15-minute commemorative flight to Hongqiao.

Airbus delivered the first A321XLR to Iberia in Hamburg on 30 October 2024, making the Spanish carrier launch operator of the 4,700 nmi single-aisle.

As launch customer, WestJet expects to take the first Boeing 737-10 in early 2027 once Transport Canada and EASA validate the FAA certification, which Boeing's Mike Sinnett put at "probably a couple months" away.
