SNCF's V150 TGV Sets the World Rail Speed Record at 574.8 km/h
- On 3 April 2007 at 13h13, the V150 TGV set a 574.8 km/h rail speed record on the LGV Est near Le Chemin, beating the 515.3 km/h set in 1990[2][3]
- The project was run jointly by RFF, Alstom Transport and SNCF; trials began 15 January 2007, with unofficial runs of 554.3 km/h on 13 February and 542.9 km/h on 15 April[2][3]
- The trainset was two TGV POS power cars, three Duplex coaches and two AGV-style powered bogies, 19.6 MW, with 1,092 mm wheels and 600+ sensors[2][3]
- The track section was adapted: catenary raised to 31 kV and wire tension to 40 kN[2]
- The programme ran over 200 hours of tests and 3,200 km, with 40 runs above 450 km/h[3]
