Toronto's Ontario Line, a new subway line meant to relieve one of North America's most congested cities, is under construction with its budget already well past the original estimate.

The 9.2-kilometre westward extension of Line 5 Eglinton adds seven stations - four underground, two elevated and one in an open trench - ending at a trenched terminal at Renforth beside the eastern end of the Mississauga Transitway. Construction was estimated in 2026 at CA$3.97 billion, up from CA$2.47 billion a decade earlier.
