The Millau Viaduct Opens to Traffic

Norman Foster's Millau Viaduct, the tallest bridge in the world, opened over southern France's Tarn valley, completing the A75 motorway route between Paris and the Mediterranean.

The Millau Viaduct was inaugurated by President Jacques Chirac on 14 December 2004 and opened to traffic on 16 December 2004^[3][4]
It carries four lanes of the A75 autoroute over the Tarn valley, designed by Norman Foster (architect) and Michel Virlogeux (engineer)^[3][4]
It is 2,460 m long with pylons up to 343 m high, a 342 m main span, and a deck about 270 m above the valley^[3][4]
