11/21/2022 - 12/30/2027SCHEDULED71% CONFIDENCE

Start: TSMC told Taipei Times^[1][6][7]/CNA on 2022-11-21 that construction had started after land grading; the site was then planned as a 28nm fab. End: Liberty Times, via TrendForce^[5], reports all five fabs targeted for full operation by Q4 2027; this is a report of a plan, not a TSMC statement.

TSMC Fab 22 in the Nanzih Technology Industrial Park, Kaohsiung, is planned as five wafer-fabrication phases and is where TSMC's 2nm volume production is centred. Construction started on 21 November 2022 after land grading, and TSMC put the five-phase investment at NT$1.5 trillion. Phases 1 and 2 are running or in trial production while Phases 3 to 5 are still being built, with all five reported targeted for full operation by Q4 2027. A steel-hoisting fall at the Phase 4 site on 20 October 2026 halted steel work.

TSMC's^[1][2] 2nm page says N2 "has started volume production in 4Q25 as planned" and its 2025 annual report that it "entered high volume manufacturing in 4Q'25"; neither names the day, so the quarter's last day stands in.

TSMC's first nanosheet-transistor node, N2, entered volume production in the fourth quarter of 2025 as planned, starting at Fab 22 in Kaohsiung, with Fab 20 in Hsinchu as its second 2nm fab.
