The Doyle family began selling fish on the sand at Watsons Bay in 1885, looking back across the harbour at the city, and the business has stayed in the family for five generations - one of the oldest restaurants in Australia still run by the people whose name is on it.

The 35,000-square-metre market at the head of Blackwattle Bay opened its doors at 7am, replacing the 1966 shed two kilometres away in Pyrmont and roughly doubling retail space across more than 40 food and seafood operators. Designed by Danish architects 3XN/GXN with BVN and Aspect Studios and built by Multiplex, it adds over 6,000 square metres of public open space on the harbour foreshore.

The 39-storey, 180-metre tower beside Central Station reached its full height at a topping-out ceremony, making it the world's tallest hybrid timber and steel building. Co-owned by Atlassian and the property group Dexus, it anchors Sydney's Tech Central precinct and is expected to be completed in 2027.
