ALP Striker Tows the West Bollsta Drilling Rig from Korea to Norway

The harsh-environment semisubmersible West Bollsta, bought by Northern Drilling for $400 million, was towed from a South Korean shipyard to Norway by the ultra-powerful tug ALP Striker.

West Bollsta (now Deepsea Bollsta) is a Moss Maritime CS60E-type harsh-environment semisubmersible drilling rig delivered by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea, in June 2019.
Owner Northern Drilling/Northern Ocean paid a heavily discounted $400 million for the rig when it exercised its Hyundai option in December 2017, against the roughly $700 million contract Fred. Olsen Energy had cancelled for the same hull, then named Bollsta Dolphin.
The 300-tonne-bollard-pull tug ALP Striker towed the rig around the world to Norway, where it was outfitted at Semco Maritime’s Hanoøytangen yard before starting drilling for Lundin Energy in 2020.
