21 Air Flight 7598, a 32-year-old Boeing 767 freighter flying for Amazon Air from San Juan, overran runway 30 on landing at Miami International Airport and struck a van of airline cleaning workers and an SUV; five people on the ground died.

A Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft flying for Amazon from San Juan, Puerto Rico, overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. on Sunday 6 September 2026, the FAA said; it was going nearly 130 mph when it left the usable runway, per Flightradar24 data.^[1][3]
The flight was 21 Air Flight 7598, operated by 21 Air on behalf of Amazon Air; it overran runway 30 at around 1:53 p.m., struck a Ford Econoline van carrying airline cleaning workers, then crashed through a fence and struck a Toyota SUV as it crossed Northwest 67th Avenue.^[2][3]
Five people were killed, all of them in the van and workers for an airline cleaning company, and five were injured, three critically; both pilots were hurt but survived.^[1][2][4]
The plane caught fire, more than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded, and a roughly 3-hour ground stop left more than 450 flights delayed or canceled by Sunday night.^[1]
NTSB recorder data: the nose and right main gear touched down at 158 knots groundspeed, a pilot called for a go-around, throttles went to go-around thrust at 120 knots and back to idle, and there was no indication the speed brakes or thrust reversers were deployed; one pilot repeatedly cautioned the other that they were too fast.^[5]
The jet came to rest roughly 1,300 feet past the end of the runway; its captain had been certified on the 767 for less than five months and the first officer for less than 18 months.^[2][4]
21 Air, an all-cargo carrier headquartered in North Carolina, flies eight Boeing 767s for Amazon Air according to Cirium; it is the third major accident involving a 767 flying for Amazon.^[1][4]
Amazon confirmed that same afternoon that an Amazon Air plane operated by 21 Air had an incident while landing and said it would cooperate fully with any investigation.^[6]
