Completion: Shanghai Municipal People's Government, 20 Nov 2024: the phase-IV expansion including the T3 terminal area "预计于2028年建成" (expected to be completed in 2028); its Feb 2026 progress report on the T3 steel roof says the work helps the project be "按期建成" (completed on schedule).
Terminal 3 broke ground south of the existing terminals as the centrepiece of Pudong's phase-IV expansion, designed for 50 million passenger trips a year. When the programme is finished the airport will have three terminals, one satellite terminal and four runways, with terminal floor space above 1.7 million square metres.
