The Middle East's largest liquids-rich shale gas play came on stream with a first phase of about 450 million cubic feet a day, the start of a ramp to 2 billion cubic feet a day of sales gas by 2030.

Aramco started producing the first unconventional shale gas at Jafurah in December 2025, announcing it with the start of the Tanajib Gas Plant on 26 February 2026^[1][2]
