Apple refreshed the Retina MacBook Pro on 29 July 2014 with faster Haswell processors, available that day[1][3][4]
Geekbench 3 shows the entry 15-inch about 8 percent faster than the entry 2013 model (single-core 3050 vs 2811, multi-core 11586 vs 10730) and about 2 percent slower than the mid-level 2013 model[1]
The high-end 15-inch got a $100 price cut, both sizes gained a 1 TB flash option, and the non-Retina 13-inch dropped $100 to $1,099[1][3]
MacRumors calls Haswell a stopgap until Broadwell; OS X Yosemite is due as a free download in the fall[1][3]

The 15-inch model weighs 4.46 pounds (2.02 kg), is 0.71 inch (1.8 cm) thick and has a 95 watt-hour battery rated for up to 8 hours of wireless web or iTunes movie playback[2]

2018 MacBook Pros feature eighth-generation Intel Core processors. Apple says the 15-inch model is up to 70 percent faster, and the 13-inch model is up to two times faster, than the equivalent 2017 models with seventh-generation Intel Core processors in benchmarks.
