Estimated: CNN's[1] two sources say the announcement 'could come as early as Friday' 2 October 2026 and Trump told reporters on 29 September he would name someone 'within days'; no date has been announced by the White House. Update 2 October: a White House official says only the President will announce a pick and calls the reporting speculation; Polymarket[3] gives 28.5% that a czar is named by 2 Oct and 62.5% by 4 Oct, so the date may slip a few days.
