Aldi Nord Raises Its Lowest Hourly Pay in Germany to EUR 14

Every Aldi Nord employee in Germany earning under EUR 14 an hour, allowances included, got a raise to that floor, months before the statutory minimum wage reached EUR 12.

From 1 June 2022 Aldi Nord raised its hourly pay in Germany to at least EUR 14 gross; everyone earning less, allowances included, got more^[1]
Aldi Nord gave the sharply higher cost of living as the reason and called it support for staff after its pandemic help^[1]
Apprentice pay rose EUR 150 from the 2022 intake: EUR 1,100 in year one, EUR 1,200 in year two and EUR 1,350 in year three^[1][3]
Aldi Nord said it already paid above the collective agreement, its roughly 1,800 apprentices included, and that store staff get an above-tariff 13th month's pay and an Aldi allowance^[1]
At the time Germany's statutory minimum wage was due to reach EUR 12 only on 1 October 2022^[2]
